Cultural tours are a great way to give everyone a virtual trip around the country. Through this experience, you get to learn about new locations (towns, cities, landmarks, etc.) and what they are known for! This is the tour you have been waiting for, behind the screen and completely free!
Steps:
Pinpoint the locations that you want to hit in your tour so that you can discuss all of the topics listed below.
Plan an efficient route that hits every location, and mark this route on a map of the region.
Plan out what you will discuss for each stop. Why is the stop important? What does it show about the region as a whole?
Be as creative as you want to be! This is your time to show off your area, and you know it best. There’s no specific format, so do it however you want.
Schedule your tour. Let a staff member know what date and time you plan on hosting this tour. It’s helpful to format it in this command:
/roomevents add [Region] Tour hosted by [your username]|YYYY-MM-DD XX:XX|Event Description Time in 24 hour time, in UTC
Make sure you’re prepared for your lecture the day of an on time. If you need to reschedule, let a staff member know as soon as possible.
Important things the tour should discuss:
Historical Landmarks
Natural Landmarks
Cultural Aspects
Food
People to Note
Feel free to discuss anything else that relates to the room’s topic.
Generally, you want to host one in the following fashion:
Introduction to your topic
Talk about the above 6 points in any order you so wish - try to not write out your entire preparation, stick to key words and let the “guide” feel natural
Make sure your audience can talk to you or ask you things, and make sure you know what you’re talking about. Don’t just go on Wikipedia. This isn’t a lecture - it’s a guide that you should be passionate about preferably.
